What is the deal with internet explorer 8 wanting to clash with google toolbar?

I had yahoo and google toolbars, then saw that youtube was not going to "support my browser" if I didn't upgrade to internet explorer 8, I did and later my computer crashed and had to reload...minus IE 8...now ebay is slowing down and sometimes other stuff, but mostly ebay.|||Internet Explorer is a system resources hog. revert to your old browser using system restore. Then Don't upgrade the browser, "You Tube" gives me that same message. Try to continue before you install or upgrade anything " Just because the sign says "The sky is falling" doesn't mean it is! Look up and find out if its true!|||i highly guess there was a problem in upgrading your IE into the 8version. i had experienced it before esp. downloading the IE not in your own language. i tried downloading the English version and it crashes a lot though i had been using the IE ever since. but then i uninstalled it completely as it went back to the original version of IE i had IE7. when the pop to upgrade my IE in my language came, i upgraded it and so far did not face any problems anymore.

*so if you aren't sure what you are upgrading, don't ever try to do it. at any rate, you can do system restore or uninstall the IE8 only. that will do the trick.

If that doesn't work you can click your start button and go to control Panel. Then go to add/remove programs. Allow your program list to populate. Scroll down to select the program you want to remove and click on change or remove and uninstall.

Step 3

Windows xp users have a section their tools menu called add ons click this and then click tool bars. This should give you all your tool bars that you have downloaded. Click add or remove to uninstall.

Step 4

If you can't uninstall the tool bar that way you can go to your system properties and restore your previous settings. This is pretty extreme though. You should be able to rid of the tool bar before taking this action.

Step 5

Consider being cautious when installing new components. Most programs today offer a tool bar for free for a sales incentive. They often ask you in the install process if you want the tool bar to be added. Click no when this question arises, and it will not install the tool bar.

|||Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.|||I have to agree with rubberducky this is the only way unless you want to slick your harddrive|||In add/remove programs, it should be listed as Goggle Toolbar for Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you have)|||If you still can't remove the Google Toolbar by going to the Control Panel and using the add/remove programs method, you could try using something called "HijackThis" (it's a freeware program.)

Basically, this tiny application will go through and look at several common ways of attaching to Windows that can cause things to be hijacked.

The Google Toolbar uses something called a Browser Helper Object (BHO), which is a DLL that allows developers to customize Internet Explorer. The BHO's location will be stored in your Registry somewhere. HijackThis will find the location and allow you to remove the entry, thus removing it from IE.

What is up with Google toolbar being package in all kinds of common software?

It's like Google is spamming us or forcing their stuff down our throats. If I want Google toolbar, I'll go to Google.com and search for it and download it. I've had 2 installs lately where if I had not been paying attention the checkboxes, it would have installed the toolbar. Sorry, I know some people may like this, but I think a big company like Google should have more class than to do something like this. If you Google 'FireFox', the first link is version of FireFox with the Google toolbar bundled in it. If you want it without, you have to scroll down through the search results and find the official FireFox page and download it from there. I wonder how many people got suckered into this Google spoof? Anyway, yes I am venting. Would like to hear your thoughts.|||Maybe you are bit tooooo angry with Google. But, yes, they are a bit irritating.|||I guess if someone willing to pay another software company, they will be most willing to ads for them.

Since we are just the user who offer zero, we have the choice to install it or not.

Normally, I will choice to not to install it.|||That's they way business goes. Google pays these companies for this, that's why you see it prepackaged like that. Usually it is quite easy to turn the toolbar off and to uninstall it.

Personally I prefer companies package the Google toolbar instead of some (much more) invasive and annoying spyware or spyware-like applications.

And when it comes for free software projects like Mozilla I'm glad they have another way to support themselves, even if it's like this.

How can I stop Google toolbar from installing itself?

I had Google's v3 toolbar and was very happy with it, but apparently Google wants to force everyone onto v4, and "upgrades" it whether you like it or not. After uninstalling v4 and reinstalling v3 several times, only to have v4 forced on me repeatedly, I just uninstalled the toolbar entirely and said to hell with it.

But guess what? Google is installing their v4 toolbar on my computer, EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT USING GOOGLE TOOLBAR ANYMORE AND HAVE REMOVED IT FROM MY COMPUTER! That's right. I have no Google toolbar but Google installs one for me anyway. How can I stop this behaviour? I uninstalled using the Control Panel utility. I have both Google Toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar...is this ok or will it slow down my computer?

Also, even though I already have a pop-up blocker with the google toolbar, is it still ok to download the pop-up blocker with the yahoo toolbar or is it too much? Any other info you know about how or if they work together or against each other would be helpful too. Thanks.|||Im running both Yahoo and Google toolbar without a prob, and im happy with it. I dont really notice any change in speed, it shouldn't slow anything down much. Yahoo gives IE6 tabbed browsing and Google gives some features not provided by Yahoo. Heres a screenshot: http://picasaweb.google.com/nookkin/Comp鈥?/a>

As for popup blockers I disabled Yahoo and Google, and use Internet Explorer 6's built-in popup blocker. If u enable more than one popup blocker you might get unexpected operation. Choose the one you like and disable the others.|||Just don't download it in Internet Explorer in Windows. It will take away most of your computer's memory. Download Firefox or Safari and then download the toolbars in Windows. If you use any distro of Linux, Firefox is included. Safari is a part of Apple Mac computers.

To the person who said "Google and Yahoo were together at one time":

Yahoo! and Google were NEVER together at anytime. They are 2 separate and different companies operated by different people. Better search your facts from both search engines first before posting.|||You don't need it but it does take up your screen, if you go to a clear spot on the tool bar and right click the mouse you can close it or open it with a check mark that is what I do, Google and Yahoo were together at one time so they do work together no problem, I use two pop up blockers and nothing gets through, hope this helped and good luck.|||I have been using both Yahoo and Google Toolbars for years with only a very minimal slowdown....

~BUT~

On my Vista machine, the newest version of Yahoo Toolbar (ver 7.1.0) slows my computer down to a crawl. 12 seconds to open a new Window! This happens with or without Google Toolbar installed.

I would disable the Google pop-up blocker however, there is absolutely NO advantage in using 2 blockers. Actually the built-in pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer (IE6 or IE7) is better then either toolbar add-on.

If you are getting excessive pop-ups, even when you are off-line, it means your computer is badly infected with viruses or other malware.

_________________________

Popup blockers, such as the Yahoo and Google toolbars and IE's built-in blocker, will only stop web based popup advertising. They can help somewhat but will do nothing to stop popups on a computer that is badly infected with trojan downloaders that are "phoning home" and contacting other computers to download and deliver the pop up ads. I believe that your computer is badly infected.

Try a full cleaning and dis-infection routine, if you are getting excessive popups, or are getting popups even when you are offline.

This is the one I use (it will take some time). These are on-line scans, you do not need to uninstall any of your current protections. Be sure and do the "on-line scanners"

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

http://www.bitdefender.com/

Click the button "Scan Online" on the left.

2. Scan for trojans, adware and spyware and remove (free online scan) with Ewido (now called AVG Anti-Spyware) NOT the same as AVG anti-virus.

http://www.ewido.net/en/

Click "Scan Now" on the left.

--------------------------------------鈥?br>

And if you are using Internet Explorer browser, after your computer is fully cleaned of spyware I would suggest IE-SPYAD to prevent further problems,

"IE-SPYAD adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once you merge this list of sites and domains into the Registry, the web sites for these companies will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on your PC."

If your Toolbar has a wrench wrench iconicon, click the Pop-up blocker button's drop-down menu, and select Reset count to reset the pop-up counter.

If you don't see a wrench on your Toolbar, see these alternate instructions.

Press the Alt-Shift keys while clicking the Pop-up blocker button to reset the pop-up counter. To remove the pop-up counter from the Toolbar, follow these steps:

1. Click the Settings button.

2. Select Options.

3. Click the More tab.

4. In the 'Pop-up blocker' section, select the 'Hide Pop-up Count' checkbox.

5. Click the OK button.|||You just click on the "blocked pop ups" and it will go back to "Pop-ups okay"

Google Toolbar?

What are the benefits of the google toolbar and how does it compare to other toolbars?|||The major benefit of the Google, Yahoo and Netcraft toolbars is that they check the websites you visit against a blacklist and warn you if the site seems suspicious. Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 already do this but if you are using an older browser, it is a valuable feature.|||I personally enjoy there pop up blocker, it works amazing, I'm not sure of other features but I love the pop up blocker. :)|||why just go tothe ask or the google site for those search engines do yopu want another server tracking your purchases and your searches all the time it slows down the cleaning and the defrag also|||With Google Toolbar you have access to Weather informations, Gmail, Google Dictionary, Google Calendar etc. Also you have a pop-up blocker. Google toolbar?

I recently instales Internet Explorer 7 abd all my icons and my tool bars went *poof* well I am trying to get the google tool bar back... I already tryed dowloading it But it wont work or it wint show... Its really anoing. I already went to Tools, toolbars, But Google toolbar is in gray, along with Norton Antivirus, both wich I wasnt to restore. Can anybody help me plz?|||If Google Toolbar and Norton AntiVirus shows in light print and you can't check it, follow the directions below.

Google Toolbar is an Add-on and it has been disabled. On Internet Explorer 7, click Tools %26gt; Manage Add-ons %26gt; Enable or Disable Add-ons %26gt; and make sure Google Toolbar and Norton AntiVirus are enabled.

Or click Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Internet Options (or Tools %26gt; Internet Options) %26gt; Programs tab %26gt; Manage Add-ons %26gt; and make sure Google Toolbar and Norton AntiVirus are enabled.

To place icons on Internet Explorer 7 toolbar, right click on the toolbar, and choose "Customize Command Bar." Then, choose "Add or Remove Commands". From the list on the left, choose an icon and click the "Add" button, it will be added to the list on the right. Then, with the new entry highlighted, use the buttons marked "Move Up" and "Move Down" to place the email icon where you want it on the toolbar. Click the "Close" button. You can add all the listed icons and all that don't show on the toolbar will be listed under the chevrons ( a symbol that looks like this %26gt;%26gt; ) on the bottom right corner of the toolbar.

If an icon you want to show isn't showing on Internet Explorer 7 toolbar, it should be under the chevrons ( a symbol that looks like this %26gt;%26gt; ) on the bottom right of the toolbar. You can get it back on the toolbar by right clicking on a vacant spsce on the toolbar and uncheck Lock the Toolbars, then hover your mouse pointer over the dotted vertical line on the bottom right of the toolbar (beside the home icon) until the pointer turns into a double arrow, left click and hold and drag to the left until the icon shows on the toolbar, then lock the toolbar.

The only reason companies try to push these useless toolbars is to use them to collect information on you, via spyware, to create targeted ads (ie ads that are intended to appeal more to you).|||Tool bars are garbage indeed, however to answer your question yes you can! How to turn off the history suggestion in the google search toolbar in Internet Explorer 8?

It's driving me insane please help!|||go to your google toolbar, click the downwards pointing arrow and click clear history. Alternatively, go to the google homepage, type a,b,c,d,e,f,g through the alphabet and everytime hover your cursor over each word/website and click delete.|||I've been looking for an answer to the same question. Apparently it's a big issue with Internet Explorer 8, and it's driving a lot of people crazy. It shows recent searches, browsing history, recently viewed pages, pulls up items from the Favorites Menu, Windows searches, and also lists Search Suggestions.

The same thing happens from both the Address Bar and the Quick Search box.

The only thing that users can control are the search suggestions. To turn search suggestions off, click the down arrow beside your Search Box. Select "Manage Search Providers". Highlight %26amp; right-click your search provider. On the menu, check "Disable Suggestions".

There are no settings in IE 8 that will turn off all of the other junk that drops down, so our browsing history, recent searches, recently viewed pages, Favorites, - everything - will continue to show when you strike a key to type in a URL or do a search.

How to install Google toolbar for Firefox 5?

I have been trying to install google toolbar for the latest version of firefox i.e. version 5, but I could not install the tool bar. Does anyone know how to do so. Replies highly appreciated.

Thanks for reading|||Hi buddy,

The latest version is not compatible with Google toolbar. And we might all end up in waiting for that to happen.

In this case, you might want to switch back to older version of Firefox, though we don't like to do so.

If you want, you can use any other toolbar that is compatible with Firefox 5 for the time being

If you used to store your bookmarks using your Google account via Google toolbar, then you need to log in to Google bookmarks separately to access your bookmarks. In that case, I will suggest you to use "xmarks" tool to store your bookmarks online. It is simple and more easier.

Also use "searchstatus" to know about everything about a page you are visiting including page rank.

I know Google toolbar is not meant for doing this two things alone, but you can try tools like this out there.
